Alzheimer’s Association Dallas

My mom, Betty Markowitz, was diagnosed with early onset of Dementia in 2008 at the young age of 59 years old.  As my brother and I got the diagnosis, we didn’t what to do, who to turn to for advice, and what resources were out there.  Unfortunately, none of my friends or my dad had gone through an experience with their parents suffering from a form of Dementia.  When there were so many thoughts going through my head. In hindsight, I realize I should have utilized the Alzheimer’s Association Dallas office to help me out with my many questions.  I had no idea that this great organization existed.  The organization’s website can be viewed at:  http://www.alz.org/greaterdallas/.

The unfortunate thing about the Alzheimer’s Association Dallas office is that they can’t help families find the appropriate senior living option. They’re role is more of a supportive one, done from their offices. That’s part of what inspired me to start Senior Living Specialists, a free service to families in need of dementia care for their loved one. As you will see below, my company Senior Living Specialists, has been featured locally on CBS News. I provide help and support to families in need of finding a Dallas or Fort Worth Alzheimer’s Care Facility.

• 24 / 7 Hot Line – The nice thing is that the Alzheimer’s Association has a 24 / 7 hotline for families to call when needing any advice or that have questions about any topic.
• Support Groups – The Association locally has support groups for the person affected with the disease and the care partner.
• Socialization Activities – The Dallas Alzheimer’s Association offers quarterly social events for families affected by Dementia through the Metroplex.
