New Veteran’s Program

Many people are aware of the Aide and Attendance program through the Veteran’s Administration but few, including myself until recently, have heard of a new in-home care program.

The “Homemaker and Home Health Aide,” program provides approximately 15 hours per week of in-home custodial care to Veteran’s. Custodial care is assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring, using the restroom, eating/meal preparation, and assistance with errands like grocery shopping.

All Veterans who meet clinical criteria, and or have a service-related disability are eligible for the benefit, and simply need to enroll. The Aide and Attendance Benefit has a minimum age requirement of 65 whereas the Homemaker Program is available to any age Veteran who requires assistance.

The Veterans Administration works with licensed In-Home Care Agencies to provide for the needs of the Veteran. For assistance locating an agency that services Collin, Dallas, Denton, or Tarrant County reach out to any of our advisors at Senior Living Specialists.
