Alzheimer’s disease, a form of dementia, is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States The loss of brain function from dementia can severely impact a person’s day-to-day living. Family members often want to provide care at home, but at some point, that often becomes too much to handle. Dementia Care facilities in the Dallas area are help people with dementia to stay healthy and comfortable.

Incidence of dementia are becoming more common. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s. One in 3 seniors will die with some form of dementia. For a person living with dementia, memory, thinking, language and behavior are all impacted – progressively getting worse over time. Finding a Fort Worth Memory Care Facility

It’s a difficult statistic to face — by the time a person is 85 years of age, the odds of developing dementia are about one in two. If you’re already facing this reality, you know how hard it can be when you realize your aging loved one needs specialized care.

Dementia is a symptom of brain disease, such as Alzheimer’s Disease. While there are treatments to help the symptoms of dementia somewhat, there is no cure. Researchers also don’t have a clear answer on causes of dementia. For a family with a parent of other loved one with the disease, it’s a difficult diagnosis to face. How to Help Your Loved One with Alzheimer’s

When people are first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, they likely don’t need full-time care. In these early stages, they need more of a care partner than a caregiver. Here are some things you can do to support your loved one newly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s:

  • Talk to them about their diagnosis, and help them find information they need.
  • Come up with a plan for when their memory worsens, such as cues and systems that can be used.
  • Help with household tasks and meals.
  • Provide emotional support by being available and accompanying them appointments or support groups.
